Ice Cream Maker Recipes

Here are some suggested ice cream recipes to use with your ice cream maker:

Chocolate Frosty

5 tablespoons of cocoa
1 can (14 oz) condensed milk
1/2 pint (250 ml) whole milk

Mix together the milk and condensed milk. Dissolve the cocoa in a little hot water. When fully dissolved stir it into the milk/condensed milk mixture. Pour half of the mixture into each side of the Ice Cream Maker. Cover and press the “Mix” button for 30 seconds. Press the “Freeze” button and place in the freezer for 4 hours or until the ice cream is just set (no liquid in center). If you wish to add stir-ins (e.g. crushed candy, Oreo cookies, etc) stir them in at this point. Consistency will be icy vs. creamy. Makes about 1 pint total.

Vanilla Ice Cream

2 cups whipping cream
1/3 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Scald whipping cream in a large saucepan, but do not boil. Add sugar and salt to the pan, stirring until sugar dissolves. Cool to room temperature and stir in vanilla. Pour half of the mixture into each side of the Ice Cream Maker. Cover and press “Mix” button for 30 seconds and then the “Freeze” button. Place in the freezer for 4 hours or until the ice cream is just set (no liquid in center). Makes about 1 pint.

Raspberry Sorbet

1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 (10 oz) packages frozen whole raspberries in syrup, thawed
1/3 cup sugar

Sprinkle gelatin over water in small saucepan; add salt. Let gelatin stand for 5 minutes to soften. Drain raspberries reserving liquid. Add enough water to raspberry liquid to equal one cup. Transfer raspberries to a food processor or blender; process until pureed. Place a strainer over a bowl; pour puree into strainer and use a wooden spoon to press the puree through the strainer (you should have 1 cup puree). Discard seeds in strainer.
Add reserved raspberry liquid and sugar to sauce pan. Heat over medium heat until hot and gelatin dissolves. Remove from heat. Stir in raspberry puree.
Pour half of mixture into each side of ice cream maker. Press the “Mix” button to mix for 30 seconds. Press the “Freeze” button and place in freezer for 4 hours. When sorbet is just set (no liquid in center) transfer to a container and store in freezer. Let stand at room temperature about 10 minutes before serving.

Makes about 1 pint total.

Orange Sherbet

2 cups whipping cream
2/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup Half and Half
Pinch of salt
2 drops red food color
4 drops yellow food color
Combine orange juice and sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add Half and Half and salt. Mix well. Fold whipping cream into mixture. Color will be pale orange. Stir in red and yellow food color to create a bright orange color.
Pour half of mixture into each side of Ice Cream Maker. Press the “Mix” button to mix for 30 seconds. Press the “Freeze” button and place in freezer for 4 hours. When sherbet is just set (no liquid in center) transfer to a container and store in freezer. Let stand at room temperature 5-10 minutes before serving.
Makes about 1 pint total.
