Pretzel Recipe

Pretzels can be made in lots of fun shapes. Just use your imagination!

(Adult supervision required.)

Makes between 6-10 servings, depending on shapes.

Ingredients:

1 package pretzel mix (12.5oz)

1 package yeast (7 grams)

6 oz water

2 tablespoons baking soda

Toppings to taste

Pour 6 oz. lukewarm water and yeast into a bowl and let stand for 5 minutes to proof. Add mix, using the wooden spoon, and then with hands, mix and knead until dough is smooth. Cover dough with a towel and let rise for 30 minutes in a draft free place.

Divide dough into 6 to 8 equal pieces and make 18” ropes from each part. Shape dough ropes into pretzels and dip them into solution of 1 qt. water and 2 tablespoons of baking soda before placing them on the baking sheet.

Bake for 10-15 minutes until browned in 400°F oven. Finished pretzels may be topped with melted butter and sprinkled with salt or coated with cheese or chocolate. Be creative. Make fun pretzel shapes like your initials or age. Maybe you want to make a flower shaped pretzel or baseball bat shape. Whatever shape you make, it will taste delicious.
